ExxonMobil and Trilytics LLC announce strategic collaboration to promote sustainable reinforced concrete solutions

Trilytics, a company dedicated to reducing carbon emissions in construction operations, will integrate Proxxima™-based composite rebar into its designs. By doing so, the collaboration aims to create more sustainable, long-lasting, and efficient building structures.

Spring, TX, March 28, 2025 – ExxonMobil Product Solutions Company, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) and Trilytics LLC are excited to announce a strategic collaboration to promote the use of Proxxima™ thermoset resin systems in composite rebar for reinforced concrete structures. This collaboration will focus on marketing and promoting Proxxima™-based rebar as the preferred option in Trilytics’ environmentally friendly and high-performance reinforced concrete designs.

Trilytics, a company dedicated to reducing carbon emissions in construction operations, will integrate Proxxima™-based composite rebar into its designs. By doing so, the collaboration aims to create more sustainable, long-lasting, and efficient building structures.

Trilytics: Reducing Carbon Footprint and Enhancing Structural Performance

Trilytics is a leader in minimizing carbon emissions from construction slab designs, delivering reductions of up to 75%. Trilytics accomplishes this by:

  • Adding liquid additives to concrete, which reduces the amount of concrete and cement needed while enhancing structural integrity and loading capacity.
  • Replacing traditional steel rebar with more environmentally friendly, nonferrous materials like Proxxima™-based composite rebar.

The use of composite rebar in Trilytics’ high-performance designs offers significant benefits, including corrosion resistance, lightweight properties, and a longer lifespan. What sets Proxxima™-based rebar apart from other solutions is its lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—Proxxima™ resin systems have less than half the GHG emissions compared to many traditional thermoset resins, on a cradle-to-gate basis.

A Natural Cooperation

“Choosing to exclusively position Proxxima™-based rebar was a natural fit. ExxonMobil’s Proxxima™ business and Trilytics share a common goal of delivering high-performance, sustainable solutions,” said Greg Scurto, Co-Founder of Trilytics. “Additionally, using Proxxima™-based rebar ensures the lowest carbon footprint, regardless of the vendor, maintaining consistency in our claims.”

Simon Holmes, Commercial Manager for the Proxxima™ business, emphasized the fit of the collaboration: “We really value Trilytics’ business model. They aim to expedite the adoption of innovative solutions while alleviating common value-chain pain points. Together, we’re pushing forward innovations in the construction industry.”

TriSLAB Enhancing Health, Safety, and Performance

The benefits of the collaboration extend beyond carbon emissions reduction. Trilytics’ innovative TriSLAB system eliminates potentially harmful respirable silica particles, traditionally associated with saw joints in concrete slabs. By eliminating the need for saw joints, the system improves the flexibility for surface mounted components, such as racks, conveyors, and columns, as well as reducing long term maintenance needs.

Improving Slab Performance for a Lower Carbon Future

The integration of TriSLAB liquid additives and composite rebar containing Proxxima™ resin systems significantly enhances the performance of concrete slabs. These materials contribute to:

  • Maintaining the flatness of the concrete slab while increasing load capacities.
  • Improving strength properties, resulting in decreased demand for concrete, cement, and reinforcing steel, which helps minimize overall GHG emissions.

This partnership between ExxonMobil and Trilytics is poised to deliver more sustainable and efficient solutions to the construction industry, making a significant impact on reducing GHG emissions while enhancing the performance and durability of reinforced concrete structures.
